How to Balance It All: School, Volleyball, Friends & Feeling Good

Being a student-athlete isn’t just a schedule — it’s a lifestyle. Between early lifts, late-night study sessions, tournaments, and trying to hang out with friends (or sleep??), it’s easy to feel like you’re doing everything and nothing at the same time.

So here’s your crash course on how to actually balance school, volleyball, wellness, and your life — without burning out.

1. Time Block Like a Pro

Instead of just reacting to your day, plan it.
Try breaking your day into blocks: school, volleyball, homework, rest, and something fun. Even 30 minutes of scroll time or a solo walk can help you reset and feel like yourself again.

Pro tip: Sundays = reset days. Map out your week before it starts so nothing sneaks up on you.

2. Nutrition = Energy (Not Just Fuel)

Food isn’t just fuel for the gym — it’s how you think clearly, sleep better, and recover faster.

  • Pack snacks (almond butter, granola bars, dates, fruit) so you’re not starving between school and practice.

  • Hydrate like it’s your job. Electrolytes help, especially after long tourney days.

3. Don’t Skip Sleep. Ever.

Sleep is your secret weapon. It’s when your muscles rebuild and your brain locks in what you learned in class and on the court.
7–9 hours is ideal, especially for busy athletes like you.

4. Boundaries Are Cool

Your friends will still love you if you miss a movie night to study or recover. Your coach will respect you more if you advocate for your body and wellbeing. Learn when to say yes, and when to say “I need a night in.” That's not being lame — it's being focused.

5. Dress the Part (It Actually Helps)

Wearing stuff that makes you feel strong, supported, and you — it matters. When your practice outfit hits? You're already in the zone.

Final Word:

You’re not “too busy” — you’re just living a big, full life.
And the girls who figure out how to take care of themselves and go after their goals? Those are the ones who truly win.
